What is content strategy

What is content strategy and why do you need one?

Some of our potential customers ask if we can write an article or produce social media content for them. Yes, we can! But we need to develop a content strategy first. That’s when they ask: Strategy? How does it work? What are the deliverables? Is it expensive?

Content strategy takes into consideration your marketing objectives and target audience to plan and develop content that highlights the uniqueness of your business. It is the part of the marketing plan that establishes how your brand is represented in written and visual messaging across your communication channels.

Content is such a vital part of your marketing that deserves a little bit of planning.

So here is the deal: you should not have someone producing content for you before aligning your marketing objectives and business values. Otherwise, it might just be ineffective (or even worse, negatively impact your brand reputation). How much does it cost to waste all those hours of work and don’t experience any growth in your social channels? How much does your business reputation cost? Based on that, content strategy is not an expensive service at all.

So what are the deliverables? A content strategy will give your business the right tools and inspiration to produce content that represents your brand’s tone of voice and conveys the key topics, also called content pillars. Keywords (or hashtags) and call-to-actions are also important aspects to take into consideration. Finally, the content pillars will be placed into a calendar so they are well-balanced according to your marketing objectives, addressing each of the customer discovery phases (awareness, consideration, conversion, loyalty).

Content is such a vital part of your marketing that deserves a little bit of planning. At Briefing Room, we offer content strategy as a separate segment (requires auditing and target audience) or as part of our Starter Pack and Complete Pack bundles.
